SARPV consider disability as a cross cutting development issue not a welfare of charity one. People are not considering that disabled people are an active part of the society and the state. Their needs and rights are always ignored and also deprived form different services such as education, health, employment etc. On thother hand though the govt of Bangladesh has taken different approaches for the PwD’S but lack of proper information PwDs did not involved with opportunities. In this aspect community and local govt can play a vital role. Considering this SARPV include community and local government development program since inception. Through this program with different approaches SARPV is trying to create space for the PwDs by sensitizing the local government, policy makers, local influential people and media to play a positive role with responsibilities towards the vulnerable groups.
It is also notable that, Women and girls with disabilities are also facing double discrimination based on gender and disability. They are often excluded from education, health services, family life, employment and also victim of sexual abuse and as well as mental agony. So SARPV trying to strengthen the voice of WwD so that they can individually or collectively claim their rights for equal opportunity and participation in the all aspects of life.
