My name is Taslima Jannat.Village Palakata 07 Ward, Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar. We have 2 brothers and 4 sisters. My father is a farmer. I was diagnosed as polio patient at two years age. After having severe feverone night my family find out one of my legs became smaller. I couldn’t walk after that incident. I’ve been crawling for up to five years. After that, my parents took me to several Kaviraj,doctor in various villages, but my situations was not improving . My family members, specially my elder brother& my mother used to take me to school in their shoulder, lap & arms. That’s where my family met Rayhan Bhai from SARPV. He informed my mother that I am eligible to admitted to Prodipaloy (SARPV) school alsohe offered my family full scholarship. In 2005, I finished the primary school and later admitted forHigher secondary where I passed my SSC in 2010.
One day SARPV field worker Mr. Shah Alam Bhai came to our area to conduct a disability survey. where I joined his survey, andlearn about disability rights and opportunityfrom him. After that, I received various types of training from the SARPV organization. Such as leadership development training, child protection and gender related training, awareness training, poultry training, block-batik training, tailoring training etc. After getting sewing training, I was hired for sewing work in the SARPV Prosthetic & Orthotic department. Since 2012, I was doing sewing work in SRPV P&O department. My job was to tailoringCervical Coller, Abdomen Belt, Arm Sling. With that income, I provide support to my family and bear my own expenses as well as my education expenses. Thenin 2013 SARPV appointed me as an accountant. I got the opportunity to work with the help of Mr. Kazi Maksudul Alam Muhid Sir, RD of SARPV.
Till day I face so many obstacles due to my physical condition everywhere I went. But My family was there for me and their believe on almighty everything will be ok one day. In this journey SARPV was there for me always as a beacon of hope it’s been 12 years; I am working with SARPV.
