Job Context: Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV) is a non- government, non-profit, Bangladeshi organization providing lifesaving nutrition support to the FDMN Rohingya people of Cox’s Bazar under its integrated nutrition programme. As part of Nutrition interventions in support with WFP & UNICEF, SARPV is working for the treatment and prevention of malnutrition among under 5 children, adolescent, pregnant & lactating women in Rohingya community.
Job Responsibilities:
A) Ensure adequate health and nutrition education sessions in the center
- Warm Welcome and Introduction to the caregivers and beneficiaries.
- Age appropriate complementary feeding, frequency, quality, quantity and responsive feeding.
- Explain the prevention and follow up procedures in the nutrition center, especially regular presence and follow up of the treatment.
- Explain the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the center and at home (nail cutting, washing hands before taking meal and after latrine).
- Conduct health and nutrition sessions according to the schedule.
- Introducing the recipe and discuss the cooking procedure with on nutritional value of the cooked recipe.
- To conduct cooking demonstration sessions in case newly admitted beneficiaries.
- Conduct cooking demonstration using locally available food and mukhe bhaat session
B) Follow up visits in the nutrition center
- To conduct health and nutrition education sessions (breastfeeding counseling, complementary feeding, hygiene, care of pregnant and lactating women, proper advices to the caregivers and the beneficiaries on the proper way of feeding, especially for children).
- Follow up and receiving feedbacks on the previous topics of health and nutrition education sessions.
- To identify responsive beneficiaries and encourage others using positive deviance method.
- Follow up of cooking practices at home.
- Follow up of the hygiene and sanitation rules in the center and at home.
- To inform the dates and days of next visit and explain the importance of attending within due period.
C) Growth monitoring promotion:
- To promote growth monitoring using the plotted curve in the beneficiary card.
- To counsel the caregivers of vulnerable children (severe and moderate underweight) about the necessity of good practices to combat under nutrition.
- To encourage caregivers with children with good nutritional status, so that they would maintain the same care all the time.
D) Reporting and statistic:
- To submit a monthly report on the number of sessions occurred and number of beneficiaries attended.
- Record findings and feedback of the beneficiaries and their caregivers on health and nutrition educations.
- Evaluate the improvement of caregivers’ knowledge on health and nutrition related topics.
- To keep a daily tally on the number of responsive caregivers.
- Flexibility and mobility is required at any time of the program implementation.
Requirements: (Educational, Experience, Language, etc.)
Education, Experience and basic requirement:
- Bachelor’s in any discipline.
- 1 years of work experience in Nutrition, especially in refugee context.
- Only female candidate can apply.
- Good computer and report writing skills are required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills is required
Employment Status: Contractual till 31st October 2023 (Renewable based on fund availability)
Job Location: Cox’s Bazar District
Salary: 30,000/- BDT
