Job Context: Social Assistance and Rehabilitation for the Physically Vulnerable (SARPV) is a non-government, non-political, Bangladeshi organization under it’s Health & Nutrition program providing lifesaving health & nutrition support to the displaced people arriving from the Rakhine state of Myanmar and the host community people of Cox’s Bazar.
As part of its Health & Nutrition interventions in support with Concern Worldwide, SARPV will implement multi-sectoral PRM project titled “Delivering Health, Nutrition and Livelihood, and Protection services for Rohingya Refugees and vulnerable host communities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh” from November 2020.
Job purpose:
The purpose of this position is to support disability inclusion within ongoing and future projects and programmes through technical expertise, and in addition will be responsible for the inclusion of children with disabilities in PRM programmes, with the tasks and responsibilities outlined below:
Job responsibilities:
Project Support
- Guides the outreach workers /social workers/educators to identify and work with children with disabilities, families and communities.
- Provides training, mentoring and methodological support and guidance to regular teachers on including children with disabilities in learning (identifying special education needs, teaching techniques and teaching strategies for inclusion).
- Conducts special needs assessment process of the learners or if necessary refers to formal assessment, for receiving specialized services or special needs supplies.
- Oversees the organization of specialized services for children with disabilities as necessary.
- Plans activities or support measures that are specific to each student’s abilities, supports finding solution to remove barriers.
- Monitors the progress of the learners with special education needs and discusses with teachers and parents; collects data and maintains records of progress and development
- Ensures the correct reporting on disabilities in Activity Info, Child Level Monitoring Tool, and narrative reports.
- Provides support and guidance to the families and ensures their engagement in family engagement activities
- Makes a recommendation on the pathway for the child after completion of the given course of study.
- Liaises with Caritas Case workers for identification of children in need of NFE, and for referral to next step in the pathway (formal education or another Non formal opportunity)
- Participates in child protection and education sector meetings.
- Participates in trainings organized by Concern Worldwide.
Disability is mainstreamed throughout Project
- Provide technical support to project colleagues to mainstream disability
- Support APs to mainstream disability during design/redesign phase including advice on resourcing, data collection and analysis, M&E and appropriate tools and information.
- Support Programs to mainstream disability as they develop proposals.
- Actively contribute to concept papers, proposal writing and partner identification when the project is disability specific.
- Capture learning from programs and share with relevant stakeholders
Disability is mainstreamed internally
- Facilitation of disability integration into national level planning purposes.
- Work with the External Engagement team to promote appropriate disability messaging and language.
- Provide technical input to the department in increasing the diversity of workforce.
- Work with the Programmes team to ensure that disability is incorporated into proposals in a meaningful way
Staff, partners and volunteer capacity is built in the area of disability inclusion and mainstreaming
- Build capacity of staff, volunteers and community stakeholders through training and awareness raising to understand disability issues, models and intervention approaches
- Work with senior leaders to identify disability focal points in APs/partners and roll out a ToT model for disability awareness/mainstreaming
- Contribute to orientation programs of all staff, volunteers and partners
- Facilitate access to disability inclusive programming resources, research and learning opportunities
- Work across ministries/sectors/programs to identify opportunities for disability mainstreaming training to occur in the context of existing training programs or project start ups
Disability networking and advocacy is strengthened
- Ensure effective representation of SARPV in relevant technical forums and task forces, with donors and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure integration and collaboration with colleagues undertaking advocacy to achieve strategic objectives and priorities such as improving access to education
- Interact, build and nurture effective working relationships with relevant partners to foster coordination, collaboration and partnership relating to disability inclusion
- Participate and actively contribute to the project Disability Community of Practice Liaise between the NO, Regional Office, Global Centre and relevant SOs on disability inclusion issues
Others
- Be familiar with Concern Worldwide & SARPV security plan
- Follow security policies, rules, procedures and instructions
- Follow organizational policies for prog/proj management
- Represent SARPV in an appropriate and professional manner
- Contribute to a healthy team spirit and team work
- Follow to SARPV Child Protection policy and standards and stay committed to organizational vision statement and core values;
- Perform other relevant tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.
Employment Status: Contractual, until 31st August 2021 (renewable)
Educational Requirements:
- A university degree, in education special education, inclusiveness, psychology, social pedagogy, or other relevant areas. Graduate degree preferably in disability studies, humanitarian aid/development or other related field. If qualification is not help equivalent level of work experience may be taken into account.
Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 Years of experience in relevant field.

Job Location: Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar district.
Salary: Monthly Gross salary 50,000/- Taka
Compensation & Other Benefits:
· 2 days weekly holiday
· 2 Festival bonus
· Gratuaty-1 month on gross salary yearly
· 5% PF contribution from organization
· Boishakhi allowance 5% on gross salary
· Local transport, mobile call charge and others allowance will be applicable as per organization’s policy.
