World Children’s Day was first celebrated in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day with mission of developing “to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare”. The UN General assembly adopt- ed both the declaration and convention of children’s rights set in the date of 20th November as the anniversary. The convention sets out a number of children’s rights such as the rights to be protected from violence and discrimination and the rights to life, health and education.
